Going so soon?

Thanks for visiting the Root Family website.

We would like this to be one of the best sites on the internet. We may only be a small family business, but we still believe we can do it! Please tell us what you think and how we can improve this site further. Email us at showroom@rootskitchens.co.uk.

Although we put this website together ourselves, it wouldn't be as good as it is without the help from the following sources.

Rackspace Managed Server Hosting Our web server delivers over 50,000 pages a month (and it might be a lot more by the time you're reading this). In order to let it deliver pages to you as quickly as possible we have our own server looked after by some very nice people at Rackspace. If you run a business, place a lot of demand on your web server and need to know that your server will always be working Rackspace are the people to call. When there's a technical problem (=Steve has broken something again) an engineer will answer the phone within a couple of rings and fix it. If you want some more examples of just how exceptional the Rackspace service is, email Steve Root (via suggestions@rootskitchens.co.uk) and I'll give you plenty of examples (like the reason we moved to Rackspace when our previous host left us without a working server for two weeks. Rackspace claim to put a new server together, custom configured and online within 24 hours for new customers - they actually took less than 4 hours and I ordered at 10pm!)
Sitepoint.com I've been visiting this site for many years, originally called 'webmaster-resources' it contains lots of up to date information relevant to web site creation. It also has a very active forum where users from all over the world can help you with any specific problems.
The Bare Bones Guide to HTML When I began creating websites programs like Microsoft Frontpage didn't exist. Web pages were (and still can be) created in a simple text editor like notepad. Web pages are simply text files that use 'tags' to tell a browser how to display things, eg entering the phrase:
<strong>This will appear in bold</strong>
will appear in your browser like:
This will appear in bold.
The Barebones guide is a handy reference to the tags that can be used, and I still use it regularly today.
